Sport is a traditional strength of the school. Led by a specialist teacher, all children receive a minimum of two hours Physical Education a week covering activities including games, athletics, gymnastics, dance, swimming and outdoor and adventurous activities. There are also ample opportunities to develop skills and competitive play in our extensive programme of extended learning sports activities.
Our school is a founder member of the Brunei Junior Sports League which enables regular competitive fixtures in six different sports against other international schools. This initiative is hugely popular with our children and fosters many of our school values such as confidence, self-discipline and the ability to work together as a team.
As the Garrison pool is easily accessible from school, all children from FS2 – Year 6 receive weekly swimming lessons from qualified instructors over an extended period of time. Our aim is that every child leaves Hornbill School able to swim. In April 2014 Hornbill School was awarded a Quality Mark with Distinction from the afPE in recognition of the high standards achieved in sport and the quality of provision for Physical Education throughout the school.
