Presentation on Afghanistan: Last week, Major Yam Bahadur Rana MVO, GM 2 RGR was at Hornbill School to share an interesting presentation on Afghanistan with the children on Monday’s assembly to kick start our Health and Well-being Week although he had returned from the UK just on Saturday afternoon. It was very kind of him to come and share with the children and staff some interesting photos and information on Afghanistan and how 2 RGR dads will be helping the Afghan police and people. We have all learned something from this presentation.

Author’s visit:Last week saw the visit to Hornbill of famous author Alan Gibbons, who worked with children throughout the school and thoroughly entertained them. His lively personality engaged the children and in Years 2 to 6 they were able to write exciting stories in which they built up suspense and tension. With the younger children Alan focused on story telling; his own take on traditional tales had the children joining in and rolling around on the floor with laughter. Staff also got to take part in their own workshop in which they wrote some imaginative and thought provoking poetry. All in all, It was a very successful visit.
