Hornbill School Vacancies

Hornbill School has several diverse vacancies available for the next school year.

All dependants of Garrison military or civilian staff who wish to be considered for employment within the school are encouraged to submit their completed application form and CV, clearly stating areas of expertise and experience.  Positions available include:

Keyworkers (fixed term and permanent): Keyworkers work with 3 and 4 year old children in Foundation Stage.  Relevant qualifications such as an NVQ 3, NNEB or qualifications as recognised by the CWDC (Children’s Workforce Development Council) would be an advantage.  This role includes working with children, assessing their progress and planning activities for them.

Learning Support Assistants and Whole School Project Support Staff (supply and permanent): These positions are varied in their duties and range from those that require a high degree of administration, specialist and project management skills, to working directly with the children in the class and local environment.

Lifeguard: Providing Lifeguard cover to support the Hornbill School swimming programme.

Some roles are more classroom-based than others, but all roles will broadly support our teaching staff to provide a stimulating environment that promotes pupil learning while supporting the senior leadership team in our school development. You may be asked to attend to pupils’ welfare needs, work with small groups of children and prepare resources under the direction of the class teacher as well as using and developing systems for recording children’s progress.

We are looking for people who can show they have some or all of these attributes:

  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Enthusiasm
  • Dedication
  • Flexibility
  • Can relate well with children, parents and colleagues
  • Able to actively maintain confidentiality
  • Organisational skills
  • Computer competence

Experience of working in a similar environment is preferable, although it is not essential as support will be given.  Please state your preferred area of work such as classroom based or project support based.  For all positions, hours of work, start date and rates of pay will be discussed at interview.

If you are interested then please complete a Brunei Garrison Dependant Employment Application Form, available from the School, Garrison Library, HIVE or the LEC Pay & Personnel Office (LPPO), along with your Curriculum Vitae.   The application form, together with job descriptions and person specifications are available at http://www.hornbillschool.com/

Applications can be returned by email to jenny.ratcliffe@hornbillschool.com or by post to Jenny Ratcliffe, Personnel Administrator, Hornbill School, HQ Brunei Garrison, BFPO 11.  Applications can also be returned in person to the school office (please note the school will be closed between 11th July-27th August 2012).

Applications should be returned to the School by 1300 hours Thursday 30th August 2012. Interviews will be held 4th-6th September 2012.  Only candidates invited for interview will be contacted.

Those employed will be deemed to be a Locally Engaged Civilian (LEC) and will be subject to Brunei Labour and Immigration laws as well as MoD Regulations for the Employment of Locally Engaged Civilians in Brunei. Pay and terms of conditions of service are offered in accordance with those found within the local Brunei economy. Any query on pay or contracts should be directed initially to the School Business Leader.

These posts require an enhanced clearance by the Criminal Records Bureau
